DiaryOfAWorm: Do The Right Thing

Prasad & Dianne

Today was another day taken up with a touch of India, growing power and nonviolence. Just listening to Prasad today I learned so much more about growing with nature, Gandhi and the cultures of India and the USA. Prasad, our guide in our pilgrimage of Peace in the footsteps of Gandhi, once again spoke of his reasons for our pilgrimage. He wants us, persons in the USA with Gandhi spirit, to come to India to spark the Gandhian spirit in followers of the Gandhi way of life. Strange as that may sound he repeated it again today. Gandhi is still idolized in India but his way of life, for the large majority in India, is not followed. The same is often said about followers of the way of Jesus and many Christians today. They idolize the person of Jesus, the medium, but ignore his message. Those who have “ears to hear” the message of Gandhi and Jesus have the faith and trust to do the right thing, although they might be rejected and not reach their goal.

This force to do the right thing or to be what you are meant to be is in nature. The worm, plant or trees do what they are meant to do, if they are allowed to be. In the garden you can see this drive. Plant roots grow deeper toward the water. Plants lean toward the sun, a source of life. Worms are slow but they are constantly seeking food to digest and cast off as rich soil. Prasad told us about all kinds of uses in nature of seeds, plants, cow urine and other natural ways that are being lost due to forces to “control and manipulate nature for their own profit.” Doing the right thing is important even when there is no goal reached or reward.

Today John finished and we installed the tray for the shelf on the bottom of the Growing Power Box. Now the water will flow through the soil to become tea, and drop to the sloping shelf below. But now instead of flowing directly into a container, it will drop to this new tray below and with the force of gravity will flow beneath the plants on the shelf into the container now on the other end. Tomorrow I will show you a picture of this latest modification of the home model Growing Power box. Basically it will make the plants growing in planters more like the ones growing in Growing Power boxes, with the water flowing beneath the box. By watering plants from above and below, I hope to nourish the roots to grow deeper for healthier plants.
