PEACEFEST

CELEBRATING 40TH ANNIVERSARY

OF MILWAUKEE 14 AND RESISTANCE TO

MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY HOSTING

DEPARTMENTS OF MILITARY SCIENCE

1968–2008

September 28, 2008 at Henke Courtyard at Marquette University

On September 24th, 1968, fourteen people — including five priests and a minister — removed approximately 10,000 draft files from Milwaukee’s Selective Service office and burned them with home-made napalm.

“by May 1968, the university issued a second set of rules, this time for ‘Faculty Participation in Disruptive Demonstrations.’ By then, a key target was the Reserved Officers Training Corps, a fixture at Marquette since before World War II.” (Milwaukee Jesuit University, Marquette 1881–1981 byThomas J. Jablonsky p. 329)
